Why We Love Dogs

IMG_2003Dogs make us fall in love with them because they refuse to inhabit and tinker with the maze of our thinking minds,  because they give unconditional love, and they represent our ever changing, beautiful, baffling present moment.  We like this, even though we don’t realize we’re being taught by furry zen masters who say simply, “just this, just now.”  In a dog’s adoring eyes all you see is now.  And everything you thought was profound and urgent just floats away, leaving your heart lighter, making you – dare I say – happy …  I would love to write a poem about the essence of dog and how these four legged characters transform us into better people.  Maybe I will!
